A warehouse selector is an operational boundary
Switching from one warehouse to another should change the relevant map, records and actions. A manager assigned to one site should not gain another site's access because its URL is known. During the pilot, switch sites on the same screen and test a saved link with a restricted login.
Keep a client's stock distinct across sites
One client may use several warehouses, with different locations, stock conditions and operational teams. Retain both the client and site on receiving, fulfilment and reporting records. A business-wide total may be useful for oversight, but a pick still needs stock in a specific eligible location.
Treat a transfer as a handover
A transfer needs a source, destination and accountable receipt. Dispatching goods does not prove they have arrived. Review the transfer's in-transit state, quantities and any receipt differences before making destination stock available. Agree receiving permissions where the two sites have different managers.
| Stage | Question |
|---|---|
| Prepare | Who owns the stock and can authorise the movement? |
| Dispatch | Which items and quantities actually left the source? |
| In transit | How will the team find the outstanding handover? |
| Receive | Who records shortages, damage and accepted quantities? |
Prove the rollout one site at a time
Site count alone is not a performance requirement. Agree active users, scans per minute, concurrent exports, retained evidence and network conditions. Test representative workload and recovery targets before expanding. Veristow's multi-site workflows do not by themselves establish a tested capacity of hundreds of warehouses; capacity commitments belong in the implementation plan.
Common questions
Can an owner oversee several warehouses while managers see only their own?
Yes, the intended model combines owner oversight with assigned warehouse access for staff. Validate the configured roles and module permissions with separate logins during onboarding.
Is a transfer the same as a full warehouse relocation?
No. A full relocation also needs cutover planning, bulk data reconciliation, labels, open-order handling and custody checks. Agree those requirements separately from a normal stock transfer.
