Start with a complete warehouse journey
Ask vendors to demonstrate a receipt, quality check, putaway, order, pick, pack and dispatch using one connected example. Include an exception such as a damaged item or a short pick. A collection of dashboard screenshots does not show how the handoffs work.
Evaluate the people, not just the features
An owner, manager, picker, packer and client need different views. Test each role with an appropriate login. A picker should see assigned work and required product information. A client should see its own records. An owner needs oversight without having to perform floor tasks.
Ask how inventory is reconciled
Record the product, unit, warehouse, location, client and stock status. Check how movements are audited and how mistakes are corrected. Test duplicate submissions, partial receipts and discrepancies. Agree the opening-stock reconciliation before switching systems.
Check 3PL requirements separately
If you operate a shared warehouse, evaluate client isolation, service agreements, rate cards, charge capture and client-facing documents. Also test a client using several sites: shared ownership does not mean every employee should access every warehouse.
Use a practical pilot checklist
Make the acceptance criteria measurable against your operation. Use a representative warehouse, realistic devices and actual task sequences.
- Reconcile opening stock and check sample location labels.
- Complete receiving, picking, packing and dispatch with the intended staff roles.
- Test returns, missing evidence, denied access and connection recovery.
- Verify reports, printed documents and a sample billing cycle.
- Agree training, support, backup and recovery expectations before rollout.
Where Veristow fits
Veristow brings visual warehouse context, multi-client operations, role-based workspaces, evidence and billing together. A guided demo is the opportunity to validate those capabilities against your own workflows, integrations and implementation requirements.
